A Chat with a Mouse

I have known Door Mouse for close to two years, I met her originally as a tenant of mine, but since that time we have become friends and I have always been so impressed by her honesty, and her earnest hard work that accompanies her creativity.

Her most recent venture is with her region Storybook. Taken from the general description:

Storybook is a fantasy nature land of books. Feel free to wander around and explore. There are places to hangout, places to play, games, Inshape track, reading and more Child and family friendly. Fall down a rabbit hole or rez a boat at the dock.

I took a little trip to Storybook with an unsuspecting Tranquillity Dexler (though I think he had his suspcions) so that I could see what storybook was all about.

Without further delay, interview with Door Mouse:

Lady Door

Lady Door

Birch Wind: Thanks for agreeing to do this interview with me
Door Mouse: You’re most welcome. Thanks for asking me. I feel much honored.

Birch Wind: *grins* aww, thank you! So to start, how long have you been in InWorldz for?
Door Mouse: Almost 2 years now.

Birch Wind: What brought you to InWorldz?
Door Mouse: I had tried other grids, but as much as I liked the technology, I did not seem to fit in with the peoples. So I went looking for other options and just washed up on the shores of IDI. (landing point for new folks at InWorldz)

Birch Wind: What was your first impression of InWorldz when you arrived here?
Door Mouse: I loved it here right off. People were friendly, helpful and made you feel like you were already part of something special. No one ignored you or judged you. They just took you in and tried to help you find your way.

Birch Wind: What did you find most challenging about starting over in a new grid?
Door Mouse: Nothing really here. There was so much help with the mentors and welcome group that I found my way around quickly. And being an explorer at heart, I put down roots in Birchglen (residential region) and got started exploring.

Birch Wind: What do you do in InWorldz now that you are here?
Door Mouse: Since I have joined Inworldz I have started learning how to make stuff. With the free upload fees and the low land prices I have been teaching myself and learning from others all kinds of different things. I started out just making gestures. But being able to build the sim of my imagination has been too fun. And learning how to script some has greatly enhanced my builds. My rabbit hole is a great example.(pictures at the end of the interview 😉 )

Birch Wind: Now that you have been in InWorldz for a while, what would you say are your favourite things about it? What is the most rewarding?
Door Mouse: Well the freedom to build is at the top of course. But also feeling like I fit in more with the people I do meet. This may sound silly but I feel this is a more mature grid. And being older in RL (real life), I just did not have the same interest as the younger crowd on other grids. Nor did I want to. I like the slower more respectful speed of this grid. I can build at my own speed and never feel pressured to be something I am not. I feel like I am part of a great community. Not in competition to be the best and the brightest star on the grid. I am just not that driven. I like to let my creativity flow like a river and go where it wants. Sometimes fast, sometimes slow. Sometimes I stop and watch others with wonder and amazement at all we can do.

Birch Wind: What are your future plans? Any future projects?
Door Mouse: I always have several projects going at once. I do not want to get burned out working on just one. I will always have my gesture store. And have many great plans for both my main sim and my scenic. I do not think they will ever be done. Every time I finish a project I have many more in my mind ready to get out. And the more I learn how to do, the more creative I get in my builds.

Birch wind: Do you care to share any landmarks ?
My sim Storybook is always open to anyone. It is G rated, so modesty in dress, chat, activities and gestures is a must. But it is a place to explore and relax. There are many things to do from InShape to boating to games to watching a movie. The more time you take to look around, the more you will find. I do not have landmarks center sim to everything. Some of the best stuff has to be stumbled into. And since I am always adding more, it is good to check back once in a while. True explorers will find the good stuff and hopefully enjoy it as much as I do. I built it for me, but I want share it with everyone.

Birch Wind: Thank you so much Lady Door!  I did indeed visit and have some pictures to share. Best wishes to you!

Door Mouse: You’re very welcome, and thank you! Best to you too!
